Well, he's kind of had it in for me ever since I accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace "accidentally" with "repeatedly," and replace "dog" with "son."

Obama's Cabinet as of Today, 10 am

I like visuals. With all of these appointments to Obama's cabinet, I think it is a good idea to actually see how things are shaping up. It will also give us an idea of how quickly he is selecting people. So I made this, such as it is.

Pale yellow indicates no selection as of this time.

Dark green indicates a selection has been made and the name of the nominee is placed underneath.

The light green is questionable. We aren't yet sure of the status of HRC.

Where I placed the posts around the table is random.

Update: 2:16 PM: He's named one more, finalized HRC, and is rumored to be considering Richardson for Commerce.

This is great, USWest!!! (And yes, I give that three exclamation points.) You should do a weekly update of this chart, like Bell Curve did a daily update of the pre-election polling. This just makes it so clear--this chart made me happy.

Technically, I don't think Chief of Staff is a cabinet appointment requiring confirmation.

LTG, the Chief of staff does not require confirmation. But he has the right to attend cabinet meetings. He is a cabinet-level administrator along with the head of the EPA, Director of the OMB, and the US Trade Rep. That is why I included them. I thought about that for a while. I considered making them different colors, but that got confusing.

The Chair of the Fed Reserve, the Social Security Administrator and the Director of National Intelligence are technically also part of the Executive Branch and hold the same pay grade as a cabinet level official, but they do not have cabinet-level positions.

And Dr.S, I am glad you like it. Thank you! I will keep it updated.

Hey, Dr. S, I considered simply using a painting of the Last Supper. But I thought that might be in poor taste. ;-)

That would have been funny... Especially waiting to see who you would put in the "Judas" slot :-)

Oh, I really do like the chart. I was just having a no-coffee moment...

GREAT CHARTS!!!

Chief of Staff is in many ways the most important appointment so regardless of Emanuel's official status, placing him at the head of the table just below the Presidential seal is good.

A last supper thing would have been hilarious! As for who goes in the Judas slot... Let's just say it's TBA.
