Rick Santorum is routed out of Penn! Lampson takes over in Texas from Delay! It seems the more conservative and the more tainted the candidate, the more likely the ouster in favor of the dems!

Jim Leach, a 30 year incumbent who was the only Republican to vote AGAINST the war lost last night to Dave Loebsack, a now former political science professor from Cornell College, in the Iowa 2nd District. Why? This was about national issues. In the end, voters voted against Leach because his complicity with an out of control Republican party trumped his personal voting record.
In OH-15, Deborah Pryce mysteriously overcame a double digit deficit in the land of magical diebold machines. I'm especially interested to see that Pryce won in all three counties in her district despite every poll in the last several months pointing to her heavy defeat in the urban/suburban Franklin County. Polls can be wrong but it's rare for EVERY poll to be wrong by double digits! I smell a rat and his name is Blackwell.

OK, the mantra is that we've won the Senate! Webb is the winner in Virginia and Allen is trying to take it away with a recount. Tester won in Montana and Burns is trying to take it away with a recount.
Ever notice how all these delays and irregularities with voting machines happen in urban areas? When was the last time you heard about rural voters being turned away from the polls?

With governance on our minds and limiting the power of the executive in the two years coming, what steps should the new house and (fingers crossed) possibly new Senate take up?
I think impeachment is a really intense step and probably unwise (and probably unachievable given the numbers). How do Dem's isolate and obviate a President who is probably hell-bent on utterly ignoring them? The power of the purse is translated into power with what exact steps? How do we limit Bush's damage?
I firmly believe that, as of last night, the Bush presidency is over.

Item one will be to propose a series of popular bills that Republicans oppose: minimum wage increase, funding for stem cell medical research etc.
Item two will be to investigate the cess pool of corruption that is Defense Department contracts in Iraq (see post above about Rummy's sudden resignation).
I think impeachment is a non-starter. First it would take too long. Second, the biggest reason the Democrats could impeach Nixon was that Agnew had already resigned. Impeaching Bush would only put Cheney in the White House.

Bingo Game Rules

Suppose you bring kids with you, don't let them run around the venue and bother other gamers. They should behave well whilst you play and the game proceeds. Play quietly and don't recite the numbers you desperately want to come off because you'll be much of a disturbance if you do. Decorous playing is expectant of all players, even those who play roulette at casinos. Also, having a valid identification is important because you don't know you might win and need to present credentials.
