Well, he's kind of had it in for me ever since I accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace "accidentally" with "repeatedly," and replace "dog" with "son."

We need to stop calling this a war. It's an occupation now.

Bell Curve is right. How can it still be a war when our "enemy" has no flag, no uniform, no government, no leader, and doesn't count under the Geneva convention? It's not like we're still fighting Saddam Hussein or his regime. That war was over long ago.

I don't know about all that. A guerilla war is still a war. The way I read it, in April 2003, the Ba'athist regime fled to the hills to commence guerrilla warfare. We declared victory... too soon. The Ba'athists with outside help have been waging a campaign against us ever since. Other spontaneous uprisings (Najaf, Ramadi, Fallouja) have added to the mix.

No, the government is gone. We did the job and took the country over. It is now an occupation presiding over civil war. And for heaven's sake, let's dump "war on terror"! I object. No more wars on vaguely named concepts.
