Bell Curve The Law Talking Guy Raised by Republicans U.S. West
Wait a minute. This isn't the monsterometer. It's the frog exaggerator! Well, he's kind of had it in for me ever since I accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace "accidentally" with "repeatedly," and replace "dog" with "son." The politics of failure have failed. We need to make them work again. You can't create a monster, then whine when it stomps on a few buildings.

Heed the warnings

LTG and Seventh Sister have warned me for a while that the time where we imprison debtors was coming, and it might be here already. Don't mess with Georgia.

Ah, Georgia. The colony founded by debtors. I'm not terribly surprised, but it's still disappointing. The old bankruptcy laws probably wouldn't have helped this woman - criminal fines usually survive bankruptcy. But I do worry that the next "reform" that the credit card folks will shove down Congress' throat will contain a Chapter 16 - complete with water wheels, rock breaking, shot drill, "God is Love" posters, and lots of other Dickensian details.

This is a good example of the sad fact that prosecutors are often more interested in Getting a W than doing justice. And let me guess... she's black?

How Dickensian. It all fits with the Republican agenda. Having already regressed our policies to the 1950s they are now aiming for the 1880s.
