It is a science fiction movie about aliens living on Earth--and it is definitely not for children--and that is all you should know about District 9 before you see it. Do not read online plot synopses; do not read the reviews yet. Those would only spoil the experience. To that end, I will forgo posting my thoughts on the film for now. But do not make me wait too long, my friends!

I saw it last week and thought it was very entertaining. As I saw it thought of your review of "Transformers" and thought that this was a left wing version.
Your comment made me smile, RbR. That was exactly what I thought, and just what I was going to write!
The reviews were largely terrible. Why are they wrong?
Actually, the vast majority of reviews have been excellent!!! Rotten Tomatoes gives District 9 a combined critics' average rating of 89% for 183 reviews and describes the consensus as "technically brilliant and emotionally wrenching."
