Wait a minute. This isn't the monsterometer. It's the frog exaggerator! Well, he's kind of had it in for me ever since I accidentally ran over his dog. Actually, replace "accidentally" with "repeatedly," and replace "dog" with "son." The politics of failure have failed. We need to make them work again. You can't create a monster, then whine when it stomps on a few buildings.

Going after the wrong people

(Lynndie) England convicted on six of seven counts

No surprise there. But are we supposed to believe that she was really the ringleader? Or that this was all done without higher-ups knowing anything about this? Andrew Sullivan discusses this, bringing up RbR's favorite theme, accountability.

Hopefully we'll get some accountabiity in 2007. Democratic control of at least one house of Congress is a neccesary condition for it I'm afraid.
