The US National Intelligence Estimate has just been released today contradicting the Bush administration. It says that Iran has kept its nuclear program on hold more or less since 2003. Thus, there is no imminent threat of anything. This is very, very good news.

It's been quite the day for good news. Although it may be that the release of this report kind of just happened, I wonder if the slow thaw in US-Iranian relations over the past couple of months has anything to do with it.
I am thinking of the reverse arms-for-hostages deal that happened a little while ago: Iran stopped some of their arms shipments to Iraq, and we released some Iranians who had been held there since 2005.
Now that Rumsfeld is gone, has Condi managed to convince Bush to give her brand of diplomacy (such as it is) a try for real? Has the administration decided that you really can catch more flies with honey than vinegar?
"My opinion hasn't changed." That's the main point Bush was trying to get across this morning in his press conference.
Since Bush's opinions weren't based on facts in the first place...
