Quote of the day:
"In Iran, we don’t have homosexuals like in your country. We don’t have that in our country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon. I do not know who has told you that we have it."Ah... but then, one wonders why Iran would write such an extensive criminal code to deal with something that does not occur. One wonders on what basis dozens (some sources say hundreds) of Iranians have been tried and executed under these laws (including minors) if this "phenomenon" does not exist.
--Pres. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, 9/24/2007, Columbia University
In addition to Mr. Ahmadinejad's status as a Holocaust Denier, he is now an official Homosexual Denier. He is also a member of an even more exclusive club: that of Iranian Nuclear Weapons Program Deniers.

Well, they certainly don't have open gay culture in Iran like they do in New York. Even though he was clearly lying about how many homosexuals are in Iran, I'm sure he believes that New York has way more gays because of the open culture. Very sad, truly.
I would like to point out that it wasn't very long ago when American politicians might have said the same thing. It is a denial of reality.
We just had a scandal where a senator felt the need to solicit sex in a bathroom. Sodomy was illegal in many states until recently. We have evoloved, and the Columbia reaction shows that. But look how long homosexuals had to pretend they were otherwise in this country.
