No doubt most of you (here in California anyway) have heard of this awful scheme, drafted by a Republican lawyer, to split California's electoral votes by district. This is going to be on the ballot next summer (if I recall correctly) and it's a terrible idea that will make it impossible for a Democrat to be elected president in 2008.
Well, just recently, our governor gave the idea a bit of a cold shoulder. Let's hope he stays that way. In the meantime, spread the word about how awful an idea this is.

I usually expect Schwartzennegger to pretend moderation but to be a Republican when it suits him. I suppose we should see this move by him as a possitive consequence of the ban on foreign born Presidents. Since he has no personal advantage to realize one way or the other he does the right thing. Note: he doesn't do the right thing out of respect for rectitude. Rather he does it for lack of any alternatives that can benefit him directly.
Also, the legislative majority of Democrats will make Arnie's 2005 electoral debacle (remember losing 8 of 8 propositions?) look like the Garden of Eden if he supports this ridiculously partisan measure.
If Arnie wants to be Senator, and I believe he truly does, he won't go that way.
