But clearly they were right.

Even a symbolic reminder of what should've happened, impotent outrage at the crimes unpunished, is worth expressing. Especially if it highlights the moral high ground that McCain abandoned some time ago.Scholeologisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01110359677410211160noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6762928.post-25315918209299484232008-06-10T13:18:00.000-07:002008-06-10T13:18:00.000-07:00The politics just aren't there for impeachment. The decision was made, instead, to concentrate on winning elections. It succeeded in 2006 and, if successful in 2008, will be at least a consolation prize for having failed to do the right thing.

The bottom line is that impeachment must be timely, and the time to do it was in 2005 when Bush admitted to secret spying and torture. That's now old news. The public won't be persuaded to go along.

At this point impeachment will both fail and hurt Democratic electoral chances - the worst of both worlds. The Law Talking Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17886791396468512490noreply@blogger.com
