He's been out of office for the duration of the war so he's free to take any position on it he likes.

That said, it is interesting that Dobson (the self appointed Pope of Protestant Fundamentalism) is now demanding that Thompson prove that he's not just a Christian but the right sort of Christian. Thompson has said he was baptised into the Church of Christ but Dobson says that statement is insufficient.

So long as the most far out, out of step bloc of Republicans has this strangle hold on their nomination they will be turning out far right wing candidates.

The problem with Thompson is that he's like Bush in that he can campaign as a moderate but will certainly govern as a Theo-fascist.Raised By Republicanshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03461006522141969925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6762928.post-61113265223283948062007-03-29T18:22:00.000-07:002007-03-29T18:22:00.000-07:00I am not at all sure that casting actor and Sen. He is smart, well educated, and acts the part of the good ol' boy. His face is somehow both fresh and familiar. Honestly, I'm worried about his potential candidacy.Dr. Strangelovehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14407042105777411150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6762928.post-23289261969618623302007-03-29T15:47:00.000-07:002007-03-29T15:47:00.000-07:00The Dems really do have a glut of good candidates....The Dems really do have a glut of good candidates. McCain could win the primary, but his "send more troops" stand on the Iraq war will kill him in the general election in 2008 (because the war will, sadly, be continuing or at least winding down). Brownback is too extreme to win the general election. Fred Thompson? They're desperate. The Law Talking Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17886791396468512490noreply@blogger.com
