The Western provinces voted for the Conservative party, a party that opposes bilingualism. Quebec voted for the Bloc Quebecois and/or the Liberals. Ontario votes for the Liberals, Ontario's party. The news was that in the Atlantic provinces, the Liberals gained, rather than lost (as was anticipated).
